Southern Right whales reproduce and mate on the coastal area of Cape Town, particularly in Walker Bay, from June to November. They migrate from the Antarctic in June, calve in August and September, and mate in October. The whales are very active, and if you arrived on time, you might see calves at the coastal area. Whales travels around the coast.
Cape Town Whale Watching Tour takes you to the small town of Hermanus, on the southern verge of Africa and about two-hour drive from Cape Town, popularly known as the whale-watching capital of the world. Hermanus is acknowledged by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) as among the 12 best whale-viewing location in the world. From its rocky cliffs, whales can be seen closely, at about seven meters’ distance. Whale Crier keeps us informed of the whereabouts of these huge mammals, by blowing a horn, which is a very delightful experience in Cape Town Whale Watching Tour.
Our Whale Watching Tour includes a scenic coastal drive, walk in the Fernkloof Nature Reserve, with unrivalled views of Walker Bay, lunch at one of the many sea-food restaurants, whale watching along the twelve-kilometer-long scenic cliff path or you have the option at your cost to take a boat trip to see the whales at sea and a return drive to Cape Town, along Houwhoek and Sir Lowrey’s Pass.
